CORE/ABS – It’s NOT all about having a 6-Pack

Yoga is all about “core strength” because most of the poses in yoga work all the intrinsic muscles that make up your core. What do you think when you think about your core/abs? Most of the time you are thinking “6 Pack”, but the core is a lot more than a “6 Pack”, it consists of your whole torso. Core strength is one of the main benefits of doing yoga.

The core is your “center of power.” Everything starts with your core, especially in sports, that’s why we need to keep it strong. When your core is strong you feel more confident. Now there is a difference between looking strong and actually being strong. You can actually have the “6 pack” or a “12 pack” for that matter and still not have a strong core. There are a lot of reasons you want to keep your core strong. One of the main reasons, besides looking good in your bikini, is a strong core protects your lower back from injuries. Whether you are playing competitive sports or just getting out of bed in the morning, everything starts with your core.
